Goldfarb Confronts DOJ Over James Indictment "Show the Evidence or Stand Down"
Brooklyn - Following the Trump-DOJ's indictment of Attorney General Letitia James, many were quick to raise alarms about the evident corruption involved in the case. But few leaders have taken direct action. Yesterday, NY-09 congressional candidate Mike Goldfarb changed that. He filed a bar complaint against Acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, the attorney tied to the prosecution in Virginia, and formally urged Halligan’s office to petition the court to unseal the grand jury records in the interest of full transparency.
Goldfarb didn't stop there. He also submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding all DOJ records related to the case, including any communications with the White House or senior administration officials. Beyond filing electronically and by mail, he personally hand-delivered copies of the requests to DOJ offices in Virginia.
After delivering the requests, Goldfarb said, "I fear the Department of Justice is being used as a political weapon, and the American people deserve the truth. I’m calling on the DOJ to either show their evidence or admit this prosecution is politically motivated. NY-09 deserves a representative who doesn’t just talk. They need someone who will take action. I'm proud to do that."
Following indictments of former FBI Director James Comey and New York AG James, it is suspected that the Trump Administration will continue politically motivated prosecutions of perceived enemies.
The documents submitted by Goldfarb are available for members of the media upon request.
