Change Candidate Mike Goldfarb Announces Congressional Run in Brooklyn’s NY-09
Brooklyn - Lifelong New Yorker, Mike Goldfarb, has announced his candidacy for New York's 9th Congressional District. A successful businessman and father raising his family in NY-09, Goldfarb is setting out to usher in a new generation of leadership at a time when Democrats are hungry for change.
"It is time for my generation to step up. I will be a voice for everyone in the district," said Goldfarb, "We need a fighter in Washington who will finally get our district the resources it deserves and who will stand up to the overreach of the Trump Administration," he added.
Mike is running for Congress to ensure families in Central and Southern Brooklyn finally get the federal support they deserve. Mike knows this is not a time to sit on the sidelines. With the rise of authoritarianism, the district can’t afford to stick with the status quo.
Bloomberg broke the story of Mike's candidacy this morning.
Key Takeaways from Bloomberg:
Goldfarb, a grandson of Holocaust survivors whose first job was in his father’s toy store, said his run is an answer to calls for fresh talent in the Democratic Party. “Representative Clarke should be absolutely lauded for the commitment she’s made to our community,” he said. “I just personally feel that it’s time for a new generation of leadership with a new set of ideas, a new background, to take the mantle forward and improve upon the foundation that folks like Representative Clarke built.”
In the district, which includes the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Goldfarb said he’ll focus on “bread and butter issues” like food, housing, education, childcare, and transportation. He also wants to fight back against the “indignities — and frankly, I think the illegal actions — of the Trump administration,” he said.
